The Baltimore County Officer, recognized by only his last name, Ruby, who killed 23-year-old Korryn Gaines in front of her 5-year-old son, was involved in a 2007 shooting which led to the victim’s death. Ruby is said to be a 16-year veteran of the police force.

According to information provided by the newswire, the Baltimore County Police Department released a statement, where Ruby was identified only by his last name. The statement came after Police Chief had previously decided not to identify the officer who killed Korryn Gaines.

Gaines was fatally shot by officers, who tried to serve her up with an arrest warrant after she allegedly pointed her shotgun at them in her apartment in Randallstown, Baltimore County. Her 5-year-old son was injured in the incident.

Adam Benjamin Rothstein, 24, was fatally shot by county officers in August 2007 after his father alerted police officers that his son was armed with a pellet gun and a knife, and could be suicidal. When police arrived and confronted Rothstein, he said he was going to shoot his BB gun if he wasn’t given what he wanted at 3:30 a.m. At the stated time, Rothstein pointed the pellet gun at the officers and he was shot to death.

Baltimore police spokeswoman Elise Armacost affirmed that Ruby was one of the officers who killed Rothsein in the unfortunate ordeal. The shooting was investigated by the police department and it was determined to be justified.

Once again, we see that the police, who are expected to protect us, are in fact the criminals themselves. As stated above, the Korryn Gaines shooting isn’t the officers first, but we really hope it will be his last. Police brutality has to stop. Banishing the officer from the force and convicting him would be a great step for a start.
