A bartender-manager at Madison’s Pub in Mount Clemens called former NFL player n-word, moreover his receipt had “black guy” printed on it.
Former NFL player Quentin Hines has filed a racial discrimination lawsuit against Madison’s Pub following the bar’s reluctance to apologize for its bartender-manager who called Hines n-word, WXYZ reports.
Hines, a college graduate and football coach at Mount Clemens High School, said a bartender called him the n-word when he tried to make another order at the pub.
“He said ‘Just pay your tab, just pay your tab,’ I said I am,” Hines said. “He said ‘Just pay your tab. I said I am, but I want to order something else. ‘Just pay your tab n*****.’ I said can I speak to the manager, he said ‘I am the manager,'” Hines said.
After staying calm in order to avoid any confrontations, Hines saw “black guy” in his receipt, instead of his name.
Hines’ lawsuit, which claims racial discrimination, denial of public allegations, negligent supervision of employees and intentional infliction of emotional distress, leaves the decision on damages at the discretion of the court, because according to the 25-year-old, it’s not about the money.
“This is about showing racism is alive. It’s about creating some type of change that can bring about unity. It’s nothing about money. What bothers me the most is that they didn’t take responsibility,” Hines told the news station.
The lawsuit lists three entities as defendants – Madison’s Pub, its parent organization and the bartender.
“I want a message sent so others aren’t done this way,” Hines said.
It is very vile to see that in today’s America an upright African-American citizen can be denied services and insulted at a pub just because he is black.
America belongs to every its citizen, and Madison’s Pub deserves to be taught a lesson; the days, when black people everywhere across America can be discriminated without any consequences are gone.
