The True Face of drug Abuse
America thinks about softening its attitude towards drug addiction, because heroin use has skyrocketed among whites.
President Obama spoke on a panel at the National Rx Drug Abuse & Heroin Summit in Atlanta. He admitted that war on drugs is not an option anymore, and we should treat drug abuse as a public health issue rather than a criminal justice matter.
A new study, conducted by Northwestern Medicine, showed that abuse and dependence on hard drugs such as cocaine; hallucinogens or PCP; opiates; and amphetamines are less common among delinquent black youth than among delinquent whites. However, blacks are disproportionately incarcerated for drug crimes.
The heroin use has increased within the white community in the country; nearly 90 percent of those who tried heroin for the first time in the last decade were white. No wonder why America is softening its attitude towards drug addiction.
White families are trying hard to convince the government to treat drug addiction as a disease, not as a crime.
Why does America think about changing its approach to the treatment only when white folks are in trouble?
America never cared about black people like this. Black person can be sentenced even for minor possession of marijuana.
