In the ruling, the justices dismissed the appeal of the Georgian Department of Transportation’ lower court’s ruling because the state failed to follow the correct filing procedures.
This has been an ongoing battle between the Ku Klux Klan group and the state. It began in May 2012 when the International Keystone Knights of the KKK made an application to the transportation department to partake in the Adopt-A-Highway program. The group sought to take on a one-mile portion of State Route 515 in Union County.
