Martin Luther King Jr. Vigil and Blessing

This Year’s Theme: “King’s legacy for peace is justice for all. Remember! Celebrate! Act!”
Music: Singer/songwriter Dana Clark & Children from Center for Refugee Services
Reflection in Action:
Using a peace pole interwoven with excerpts from Dr. King’s passionate writings, participants will connect with the challenge of mutual respect in today’s America. The vigil will invite participants to Remember how Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. worked with others to dismantle fear, division and hatred. This message of hope will challenge participants to apply King’s message to ending the oppression facing our society today. Celebrating the message of nonviolence, participants will rededicate themselves to Act to exercise compassion, increase understanding, and promote peace.
The vigil will close with a procession with candles to the crosswalk, blessing the Official Start Line for the Martin Luther King Jr. March.
