Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday Celebration 2017

Join us for one of Southern California’s largest and most diverse celebrations of the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., honoring his memory and his work toward nonviolence. This year’s celebration marks the event’s 32nd year and embraces the theme “Stand Against Injustice.” Keynote speaker will be Dr. Kathryn E. Jeffery, Santa Monica College’s new President/Superintendent. The multiethnic interfaith program includes inspirational readings, music, and presentations of scholarships. Immediately following the program, a Community Involvement Fair (held nearby at 725 California Ave., Santa Monica) offers refreshments and informational displays by a variety of community organizations. Sponsors: The Martin Luther King, Jr. Westside Coalition; City of Santa Monica; RAND Corporation; CityTV-Santa Monica; SGI-USA; Santa Monica College; and the SMC Associates (www.smc.edu/associates).
