Vic Mensa’s Powerful New Song “16 Shots”

"To me, Laquan McDonald represents Emmett Till, which represents every name down the line," Vic Mensa said while premiering the official version of "16 Shots"

The new powerful track by Vic Mensa is dedicated to Chicago teenager Laquan McDonald, who was shot 16 times by police officer Jason Van Dyke in 2014.

“I was inspired to make this song by my time down on the ground floor in the street when we were revolting against that shit,” said Mensa. “Since then, a lot of things have changed, but one main thing hasn’t changed, [which] is that our lives are not respected.”

The song is a part of Mensa’s new EP, “There’s A Lot Going On.” It had a surprise release on June 3. Check out the track below.
