Twitter users roasted the article comparing pregnant first-round Wimbledon loser to 23-time Grand Slam winner, Serena Williams.
According to The Atlanta Black Star, the article linking pregnant tennis player Many Minella to expectant Grand Slam winner Serena Williams backfired, primarily because the former lost her first-round match at Wimbledon.
Tennis.com’s Baseline published an article Tuesday, July 4, saying Luxembourg native Many Minella, who is four months pregnant, “pulled a Serena” during the first round, where the world No. 82 fell to 37-year-old and No. 72-ranked Italian Francesca Schiavone, 6-1, 6-1.
Comparatively, Williams beat her sister Venus 6-4, 6-4 in the final at Australia.
Of course, this audacity didn’t skip the attention of the Twitter users and the authors of the article were mocked for their inability to distinguish between such banal things as winning and losing.
It’s really funny how white take pride in any trifle while ignoring the greatest achievements of their Black counterparts.
