Shonda Rhimes Unapologetically Smart And Talented

Meet Shonda Rhimes, the creator, executive producer, writer and the founder of Shondaland.

The rundown: Thursday nights belong to her. But by year’s end, according to Essence magazine, Shonda Rhimes‘s prime-time reign will expand even further, as she will be credited as creator, executive producer, and/or writer on five ABC series: Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, How to Get Away With Murder, The Catch and the upcoming Still Star-Crossed.

Pop culture impact: Since Grey’s 2005 premiere,  Shonda Rhimes has captivated audiences by showcasing a true depiction of humanity. With respect to the latter, Rhimes remains boldly unapologetic. “I’m normalizing TV,” she has famously said. “I’m making TV look like the world looks.”

Life offset: The mom of three daughters is also a New York Times best-selling author. The most rewarding part? “Getting to do a job that I love and being paid for it – and going home happy every day,” she says.
