It has been five years since Trayvon Martin's death has triggered the growth of the activist movement.
Trayvon Martin‘s death led to mass protests and opened a new era of fighting for black lives in America. This tragic event brought to life #BlackLivesMatter hashtag and a new generation’s Civil Rights Movement.
The deaths of Michael Brown Jr., Tamir Rice, Eric Garner, Sandra Bland, Ezell Ford, Philando Castile, Alton Sterling, LaQuan McDonald and other Black men during Obama’s rule made the movement grow bigger and stronger. It has achieved impressive results in rising public awareness and challenging historic disparities and ill treatment of people of color.
We all know that being Black may be hard and sometimes even dangerous. We all know that racism is an issue to be addressed at the highest level…
But let’s also remember Trayvon Martin as a joyful guy of 17, full of energy and eager to live. Let him rest in power and let’s hope that one day he’ll be able to rest in peace.
