Police Brutality: Protest Erupts After Charlotte Police Shot and Killed Innocent Man

Protest ensued in North Carolina following another police brutality case were Keith Lamont Scott was shot by an officer in a parking lot.

On Tuesday, a Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer shot and killed a man in the parking lot of an apartment building. According to a report by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, the man who was killed wasn’t the one they had gone they to serve a warrant. They also stated that the man had a gun.

It is still unknown who the officers were looking for but while they were on the mission to serve the warrant, they saw Keith Lamont Scott at the car park.  The statement by the police stated that Scott got out of his car with a gun.

The police report stated, “The subject got back out of the vehicle armed with a firearm and posed an imminent deadly threat to the officers who subsequently fired their weapon striking the subject.”

According to Police Chief, Kerr Putney, it was one officer who shot Scott. Scott was shot dead by officer Brentley Vinson. He died at the Carolinas Medical Center.

Scott’s family has since been informed of the bizarre incident and investigations have already commenced into the case.

A statement by the mayor of Charlotte, Jennifer Roberts revealed on Tuesday night that Vinson has been placed on administrative leave as investigations continue.

Immediately after the news of the horrific police brutality spread abroad, angry protesters gathered and blocked some roads in a protest, CNN affiliate WSOC reports. The number of demonstrators grew rapidly and soon protesters filled the whole street.

“No justice, no peace!” was the phrase being chanted by the demonstrators.

It is still very amazing how the very people protecting the law always act outside those same laws. It seems for the police when they are dealing with Black people, it is “guilty until proven innocent.” But the sad thing is that most of these people don’t even have the chance to be proven innocent since they are mostly killed.

You shot and killed a man just because he had a gun in a country where it is legal to own a gun, this is absurd! According to the report, Scott didn’t threaten them in any way; he didn’t resist arrest, neither did he point the gun at them. Moreover, he wasn’t even the person they were looking for.

We do not support violent protest but we ask all to stand up against this madness. Black life is a human life!
