Black Pregnant Woman Sues Cops For Assaulting And Calling Her “Fat Bastard”

Sheena Stewart, 29, is suing Staten Island police officers for false arrest during a traffic stop on March 31, 2015.

Staten Island police officers attacked a seven-and-half-month old black pregnant woman, Sheena Stewart, during a traffic stop.

Stewart said the police pulled her over for allegedly not coming to a complete stop at a stop sign. She gave the cops her driver’s license and while looking for her registration, they got furious.

One of the officers, Matthew Castellano, said “What the f**k is taking you so long?”, but Stewart responded, saying, “If you are going to continue talking to me like this, I am going to record how you are speaking to me.”

According to the lawsuit filed in Brooklyn Federal Court, the cops “threw her to the ground on her pregnant stomach” and called her “fat bastard”. After assaulting the Stewart, she was then falsely charged with “disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and obstructing governmental administration”.

Her lawyer, Brett Klein, said in an interview that, “the verbal and physical treatment of this visibly pregnant woman for allegedly moving too slowly to retrieve her documents during a baseless traffic stop is not how we expect our police officers to treat motorists.”

Stewart was taken to hospital an hour later, after she was falsely arrested and detained at 121st Precinct jail. Thankfully her bay was safe; she later delivered to a bouncing baby girl.

Officer Castellano however resigned later from the force for unknown reasons after the incident.

The lawsuit demands an unspecified amount of money for damages and unlawful arrest.

It seems be like these cops are real bastards for black people. They have no value for black lives. It is a crime against life to beat and harass pregnant woman. What if she had lost her child?

There is no excuse for such behavior from cops. Castellano and his colleagues should be definitely punished for their actions.
