A local Fox News affiliate reported that an unnamed sergeant, a 17-year veteran of the Detroit Police Department, took issue with Beyonce’s Super Bowl halftime performance Sunday night, in which her dancers raised black power fists and sported berets and leather outfits reminiscent of Black Panther Party.
“If the dance troupe at the top is okay for this year’s half-time show, then the one at a bottom should be okay for next year, right?” he wrote, accompanied by a photo showing Beyonce’s backup dancers on top and the KKK on the bottom.
Chief of Police James Craig said the post has been replaced by a retraction and an apology, but added that the comment was unacceptable.
“I received calls indirect and direct from employees throughout the organization troubled by it,” Chief Craig told Fox. “Certainly this does not and shouldn’t represent our police officers.”
Now, what this sergeant needs to know is that, the dance troupe at the top bring light and joy into the hearts of the people the police department break and devastate, whiles the one at the bottom take precious and irreplaceable lives and happiness from people.
It’s a very big error comparing these two categories, and hence the investigation should be quick and accountable.
