Rally in Memory of Sandra Bland

July 13 will mark the one-year anniversary of the death of Sandra Bland, a 28-year-old black woman who was found dead in a Texas jail cell after being arrested for not using her turn signal. Her death was classified as a suicide. However, we all know that she didn’t commit suicide. In December, a Texas grand jury declined to bring charges against any of the jail staff for Sandra’s death. As usual nobody is held responsible.
People are still looking for answers. Sandra’s mother is still looking for answers. The main question is what happened to Sandra Bland?
In the last 10 years alone, more than 4,200 people have died in police custody in the state of Texas.
Chicagoans, join us on July 16th outside the Homan Square facility to protest against police brutality and violence against black women in the country and honor the memory of Sandra Bland! We should demand justice for the families of innocent people killed by police.
