Fear, Anger and Burning Houses: WHY BLACK LIVES Matter NOW

Prof. Battle-Baptiste is a historical archaeologist at U-Mass, Amherst, who studies race, class and gender in the African Diaspora. She also heads the U-Mass DuBois Center. The burning house reference is about why we say Black Lives Matter and not All Lives Matter, or Blue Lives Matter. THIS MOMENT is about focusing on Black lives. Whitney Battle Baptiste will put into perspective why the BLACK LIVES MATTER movement is so vital to our country’s desperate struggle for dialogue and effective, meaningful change on race relations. We simply can’t risk losing this moment.
