Come out in Solidarity with NYC Shut It Down, Why Accountability and Copwatch Patrol Unit to Demand Justice for Dayshen McKenzie
Everyone from Manhattan, Bronx, Brooklyn and Queens meet at the Manhattan side of the ferry by 5pm. We will take the 5:30 ferry. It takes 25 minutes to get across. If you do not have a ride to the precinct from the ferry, the S48 bus goes near the precinct. The stop is Forest and Richmond ave. Precinct is 1/2 block south on Richmond ave.
Rally Starting Point: 121st Precinct
970 Richmond Ave, Staten Island, NY 10314
We will be protesting and demanding Justice for Dayshen and Accountability for the group of white teens who are responsible for his death, the NYPD who are trying to hide this being a hate crime and the media that are protecting them.
Dayshen McKenzie should still be alive giving his mother one of his daily hugs. He is not due to dying while running for his life. A modern day hunt to lunch is what occurred.
Dayshen who is from Staten Island was running for his life from a mostly white crew shouting racial slurs and waving a gun. Due to this he collapsed and died last week from a severe asthma attack, not too far from the 121st Precinct.
A witness told the NYPD, “They were chasing him — that’s a crime. You’re hunting them because they’re black … You’re calling them a n—-r.”
Dayshen’s death is very similar to the infamous 1986 incident in which a white gang in Howard Beach, Queens, chased Michael Griffith, to his death on the Belt Parkway.
