Assata’s Daughters Badge Ceremony: Unit 2 – Community Care

As our second unit comes to a close, Assata’s Daughters welcomes our community and families to join us to celebrate the Akerele, our youngest members of Assata’s Daughters as they are presented with badges and other recognitions.

This unit, we used a project based learning model to explore the Black Panther Party’s Ten Point Program. Each week, our Akerele explored the demands for community care and Black liberation outlined by the BPP through art, history, music, stories and games. At the badge ceremony, the Akerele will share the Squad Projects they have been working on which focus on their vision of what it means to lift up the Black Panther Party’s demands today.

Come see them share their beautiful projects and learn about the organizing efforts the entire collective has worked on this unit.

There will be lite refreshments, and several Assata’s Daughters goods for sale too.

In the mean time, please support Assata’s Daughters by donating on our website here: http://www.assatasdaughters.org/supportus/. Financial support from our community allows us to provide uniforms to members, rent spaces for meetings, provide transportation to and from meetings and events, purchase workshop materials, as well as provide meals and snacks.
