2017 Aiken Community Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration


Aiken Technical College and University of South Carolina Aiken will present the 2017 Aiken Community Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration on Sunday, Jan. 22 at the USCA Convocation Center. Doors open at 2:30 p.m. and the program begins at 3 p.m. This event is free and open to the public!

The keynote speaker is Bakari Sellers, an attorney, CNN political commentator, and former South Carolina state representative. He will speak on the event’s theme: “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter,” a quote by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

This event will also feature:
A service fair highlighting area nonprofit organizations;
Musical performances by Mount Anna Baptist Church, Second Baptist Church of Aiken, and the Aiken Community Choir; and
Recognition of winners of the event’s essay and poster contests.

This event is presented annually by Aiken Technical College and USC Aiken.
