Sharon Chambers saved 15-year-old girl who was being harassed by a man who wanted to force her in his car.
The Milwaukee County Transit System (MTCS) driver while on her route Monday encountered a girl who was stopping her. When she got close, she realized that she was crying.
“I thought she was just running to catch the bus, but as she walked in front of the bus I noticed she was crying,” Chambers said. “I told her to get on the bus and let her know no one was going to mess with her on my bus.”
While she was in her car now, this kind driver called the girl’s grandmother to inform her and assured the girl of her safety. She also notified the MCTS dispatch, who called the police. As they were waiting at 51st and Silver Spring Rd., she further comforted the girl.
“Don’t worry about it. You are safe. I will fight for you; no one is going to hurt you,” Chambers told her.
“Sharon Chambers is a wonderful example of how even small acts of kindness and compassion can have a large impact. Sharon, and all the other hardworking employees at MCTS and Milwaukee County, makes me proud to live in Milwaukee and serve as County Executive. Thank you, Sharon,” said County Executive Chris Abele.
We are proud of her actions, for showing the world how responsible and kind-hearted black women are.
