About half a dozen protesters burned American flag Saturday night in Graniteville over the death of 16-year-old black teen Dayshen McKenzie.

The group took step for a right cause, after an unfruitful investigation made by the NYPD over the death of a Dayshen McKenzie, who collapsed and died from asthma attack, after he was chased by white gang members. NYPD officials claimed that the incident hadn't been a hate crime, although witness heard white attackers screaming, “Crips, mother—ers, I’m gonna’ kill you n—-rs.”

A video of the flag burning ceremony, which was organized by a group called “NYC Shut It Down,” was posted by on YouTube Tuesday, June 7. The ceremony was made in order to put pressure on the NYPD in finding McKenzie’s attackers and admitting it was a hate crime.

One of the women, African-American, in the video can be heard saying, “we light fire for the ancestors who have gone before us who were lynched, we light this flag for Dayshen McKenzie, who was lynched.”

The group also mentioned names of victims of police brutality such as Freddie Gray, Trayvon Martin, Nicholas Heyward Jr. and Ramarley Graham. “We light this flag for Akai Gurley, who was lynched. We light this flag for Eric Garner, who was lynched,” another protester says.

The NYPD spokesman responded to the burning flag video that the protesters “have the Constitutional right to burn a flag in public.”

Up till date, the NYPD cannot find and arrest those mob members, who attacked McKenzie and his friends with guns on a broad day light. Moreover, they reduce the importance of the incident by denying it was the hate crime committed against unarmed innocent black teen.

White Privilege: 6 Months VS 6 Years In Jail On Rape Cases

Brian Banks, a black man who served 6 years in jail after being falsely accused of rape, calls the Stanford rape case a Whiteman’s privilege.

Brain Banks, who was wrongfully convicted of rape crime at the age of 16, is throwing lights on racial disparities in his case when compared to that of a Stanford swimmer Brock Turner’s rape case.

Turner, 20, a white man who actually raped an unconscious and intoxicated woman in 2015, was sentenced to only six months in jail, while an innocent black man, Brain Banks, was imprisoned for almost six years.

Banks, who has been following up the Stanford rape case, explained how he felt in the courtroom when they read Turner’s prison sentence. “It was like I was not even in the room. I felt like I wasn’t a human being. I was a number,” he said.

The then 16-year-old black teen in 2002 was tried as an adult and faced 41 years to life in prison. But after a long struggle, he was granted a six year jail sentence and was imprisoned until the accuser dropped her charges against him.

Banks also explained that Turner’s victim was “totally ignored” in the case as “she has to live with her hardship and tragedy for the rest of her life.”

This is how our justice system works – a system full of injustice where over 40,000 innocent men and women are kept in prison and not surprising that most of them are people of color. Contrariwise white people are enjoying their freedom even after committing such horrible crime as rape.

Pasadena BLM activist Jasmine Richards was sentenced Tuesday, June 7, for allegedly trying to stop police from an unlawful arrest of a young woman.

The founder of Black Lives Matter Pasadena chapter, Jasmine Richards, 28, was convicted about a week ago of what California officials refer to as a felony lynching, which simply means “taking by means of a riot of another person from the lawful custody of a peace officer."

Activist Richards was arrested in August 2015 for trying to prevent police officers from unlawfully arresting a black woman, who was accused of not paying for her meal at a restaurant in Pasadena, California.

Richards was charged with delaying and obstructing officers, inciting riot and felony lynching.

Although Richards is not the only protester in U.S. history charged with lynching, she is however the first African-American woman, who has been charged with this offence. She was sentenced to 90 days in jail, after which she will be on probation for 36 months.

Attempts to arrest active members of the BLM and other human rights groups are becoming more and more common in U.S. Black activists are videotaped and traced by the undercover cops so that they can find reasons to silent them or send them to jail for as long as possible as they did with black Ferguson activist, Josh Williams. This is a part of government partisan war against black communities, that's why we shouldn't give up our activity if we do not want let them win.

14th Ward Chicago Councilman Edward M. Burke announced Monday, June 6, his plan to enact a bill that will protect Cops in hate crimes.

Burke and five other councilmen will introduce a new hate crime bill that will protect police officers, emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and firefighters in crimes and violence.

The current hate crime law in Chicago State affects those who target victims either because of their race, religion, sexual orientation or mental disability. But Burke said that there is a need to also protect police officers, who respond to violent crimes in the state and also punish citizens who try to interfere with their work.

“Each day, police officers and firefighters put their lives on the line to ensure our well-being and security. It is the goal of this ordinance to give prosecutors and judges every tool to punish those who interfere with, or threaten or physically assault our public safety personnel,” Burke said.

Burke’s bill, he intends to introduce, includes changing hate crime fines from $500 to $2,500 and adding six months imprisonment for defaulters.

The President of Chicago Firefighters Union Local 2, Thomas Ryan, gave his approval for the Blue Lives Matter bill to take effect.

If that bill will come into law, taking cellphone videos might even lead you to jail, as officers would accuse you of interfering with their job. It should never happen, police officers are enjoying all the privileges over community members and this tendency should be suppressed but not appreciated.

Unlike his Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders takes the problem of police brutality seriously.

Ongoing police brutality is a major concern for black people who have been for long years subjected to violence by those in law enforcement. Officers who have knowingly and deliberately used excessive force against innocent people remain a widespread problem in the entire country, which needs to be immediately addressed.

Who of the presidential candidates, do you think, is ready to deal with such a tough situation? Who knows how to combat police violence? The answer is pretty clear: Bernie Sanders. We believe that if he were to become president, the problem of police brutality would be high on his list of priorities.

In the most recent police-involved incident, Jessica Williams Nelson, a 29-year-old woman, was fatally shot by a San Francisco Police Department sergeant, Justin Erb. This horrible murder once again proved that “Blue privilege” is real and the Black population needs to be supported in their fight against the racist police.

Sanders is a genuine inspiration for hundreds of Black activists. He has been promoting social justice since college when he, at the age of 21, was arrested by police for protesting Chicago Public Schools policies that kept segregated classrooms. He knows how it feels to confront police who don’t favor your opinion.

Unlike Hillary Clinton, Sanders never continued the slavery tradition in the U.S. It’s not a secret that Mrs. Clinton supported policies that devastated black people. Her husband made a profitable business, due to collaboration with private corporations which enjoyed the benefits of prison labor.

In this sense, Bernie Sanders seems the most trustworthy candidate for Black Americans.

The Post-Dispatch reported that the St. Louis Police Department has spent only $4.7 million to settle families of police victims since 2010.

According to the report, the seven digits were used by the department to settle about 44 police cases, including fatal shootings, wrongful imprisonment and alleging injuries.

The report highlighted that in 2013, the city spent $900,000 to settle the family of Anthony Lamar Smith, who was fatally shot by a police officer Jason Stockley, even though he was unarmed and pleaded for his life.

Other settlements included the cases of Cary Ball, an unarmed black man on whom police rained 21 bullets, and Normane Bennett, who was also shot dead by police as he tried to run away for his life.

Ball’s family was however settled with a very small amount of money that was about $400,000, while Bannett’s family received $212, 500. It was like giving a cookie to a child to stop crying after you’ve taken away what he or she loved most.

Jon Loevy, a lawyer from the Loevy & Loevy firm in Chicago, said, “In my considerable experience, police departments do not settle, and certainly don’t settle for a lot of money, unless there is clear evidence of liability, clear evidence the shooting was unjustified”.

It seems like Police Departments all across the country now try to buy off victims of police brutality and members of their families especially when it comes to black communities. Still those responsible are not punished and no amount of money can bring back people’s lives.

“Noma was chosen because she was the best actress for the job.”

While we sit and wait for the the next mystical show of Harry Potter’s series, some racists and idiots beyound repairs are complaing about the most creative and legendary writer J.K Rowling’s decision to cast a talented black actress, Noma Dumezweni, as Hermione Granger character.

But here is what Rowling has for them.

“With my experience of social media, I thought that idiots were going to idiot. But what can you say? That’s the way the world is. Noma was chosen because she was the best actress for the job.”

When Noma was announced in December to be cast as Hermione in the next Harry Potter series, titled “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child”, some fans were obsessed about why should they suddenly have a black character to play a “white Hermione”.

Because a British actress, Emma Watson, played the role of Hermione, these racist punks claim a black woman cannot do the job. But Rowling reminded them that “Hermione’s race and skin color were never actually specified in the books”.

Some people are just ment to be racists no matter what because it’s in their DNA, which has been transferred from one generation to another.

Ex-cop Robert Olsen, who fatally shot naked and unarmed mentally ill black veteran, Anthony Hill, pleaded not guilty to charges against him.

On March 9, 2015, officer Robert Olsen fatally shot Anthony Hill, who was wandering, with no pants on, outside an apartment complex in Chamblee, Georgia, near Atlanta. Hill was unarmed and did’t pose any serious threat to the officer, conversely he needed medical help and care.

Olsen resigned and was indicted on murder charges, making false statements, violation of oath of office and aggravated assault in January 2016. But on Monday, June 6, he and his attorney, Don Samuel, appeared in court to plead not guilty of all the charges. The two left the court room, decling to make any further comments.

Anthony Hill, a 27-year-old U.S. Air Force veteran who served his nation to the fullest in Afghanistan, was believed to have had mental health issues caused by serious post-traumatic stress disorder.

Hill's mother Carolyn Giummo, who was also present for the hearing said that the only thing she wants now is justice for her beloved son. She demanded that Olsen be held responsible for his crimes.

Even though Hill was unarmed, Olsen still used lethal force against him because he was black. And he has no remorse that he killed a man, who got ill while serving his country.

Two Texas police training schools were suspended after a video of them teaching excessive force popped-up.

The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office Training Academy and the Lower Rio Grande Development Council (LRGVDC) Regional Police Academy were suspended until further notice for a denfensive tatic training filmed, showing how cadets should hit or use an elbow to strike suspects to get them to the ground.

The Lower Rio Grande Development Council, however, said in a statemen that the video was made purposely for “cadet instruction and feedback”. “Video feedback had not been previously utilized by LRGVDC Police Academy and after evaluating this practice and as a result of this incident, this method will not be used in the future.”

Primera Police Chief Manuel Treviño complained, after watching the awful video, that police academies have such violent types of trainings for cadets. He suggested the academies have some changes in their trainings.

If police have such violence in their trainings, then that perfectly explains why they think they have “righs and God-given power” to kill innocent people.

The use of excessive force and is not just the fault of the individual police officer, but also the fault of the system and its leaders, which are specially organized activities to turn American police into a paramilitary punitive unit. It's main function is to carry out reprisals against poor African-Americans and all those who disagree with the arbitrariness and lawlessness of rich people.

“Black Lives Matter, this is what we’ve been waiting for…this is what we need at this moment.” – Angela Davis.

On Thursday, June 2, two activist icons, Angela Davis and Gloria Steinem, had a magnificent discussion at the Brooklyn Museum in New York about their success stories, as black female activists at a time when racism was at its peak in America, and also about the strength of black people when they are united.

It was a night of bliss for everyone as Davis received the Sackler Center First Award, which is dedicated to super exceptional women who have made tremendous contributions in their fields.

Before the legendary freedom fighter received her awards, she and the political activist, Gloria Steinem, lengthily discussed her work and a 2013 documentary titled, “Free Angela and All Political Prisoners”, which is about her revolutionary life and success stories in fighting against racism and inequality.

As the two sat on stage, Steinem asked Davis about her secrets that made her survive the obstacles she faced in fighting oppression.

Davis replied, saying “What made me feel capable of getting up every day and moving forward was the fact that there were so many other people involved in the struggle. This was not my struggle alone. I could only see myself as being one of many others and that helped me. I didn’t feel alone.”

Steinem further asked Davis about her thoughts about today’s movements like Black Lives Matter.

The feminist icon and scholar Davis said, “Black Lives Matter, this is what we’ve been waiting for”.

From the icons’ discussion, we learnt that there is strength in unity. Togetherness can change the world and social organizations like Black Lives Matter, the Justice League in New York and BYP 100 just help us to stay united. But there is a need for every black man or woman to stand up and fight for what is right.

Black Americans contributed a lot to the U.S. during World War II. We honor those who lost their lives serving our country.

Today, on the 72nd anniversary of D-Day, we remember all Black troops of the 320th Barrage Balloon Battalion, who sacrificed their lives to defeat Hitler on that fateful day in Normandy.

However, it comes as no surprise that the contributions of many African-American soldiers were excluded from the history of World War II and their stories remained neglected.

The press showed no interest in highlighting the importance of the Black contribution. The losses sustained by Black units were strikingly higher in comparison with Whites just because Black lives didn’t count.

The U.S. military was segregated by race and Black soldiers with their good deeds were seriously underrated. And it’s not about glory, it’s about respect.

Much of what was being said about the war was associated with heroic actions of Whites. Thus, Black heroes of the 320th Barrage Balloon Battalion, participating in the Normandy landings, have gone unrecognized to this day. Those, who were later nominated for the awards, never received them. Hundreds of black troops, who saved lives of their battle buddies, were denied the Medals of Honor and subsequently stayed inglorious.

Black members of one of the most celebrated events in the history were overlooked. Hopefully, today all African-Americans who fought alongside Whites during World War II will be remembered and appreciated for their courage.

African-American officer, Caesar Goodson, is the only one in Freddie Gray’s case who faces second-degree murder and other charges based on other officers' testimony.

Last month, Officer Edward Nero, one of the six Officers accused of being involved in Freddie Gray’s death, was acquitted of all charges. Now the stakes are high as another trial is soon approaching.

The van driver, in addition to facing a second-degree murder, will face charges associated with ignoring officers who were there in the van and advised him to take Gray to Emergency care as they have testified in previous cases against him. According to them, he is responsible for Gray’s death. Also, Doctors report in his autopsy says that the young black man suffered from spine injuries which he incurred at the back of the van.

Goodson, 46, faces second-degree "depraved-heart" murder, manslaughter, assault, misconduct in office and reckless endangerment charges. Prosecutors say that Goodson was so negligent in his failure to buckle Gray into a seat belt that he disregarded the apparent risk to Gray's life and well-being.

Officer William Porter, whose trial ended in a hung jury in December, testified that he told Goodson at one of the stops to take Gray to the hospital, but Goodson didn't. Instead, Goodson made another stop to pick up a second prisoner.

Officer Ceaser Goodson faces 30 years in prison if convicted of a murder charge.

"It would be devastating for the state to lose Goodson's trial because there's no question that the ultimate responsibility lies with the van driver," said Warren Alperstein, a Baltimore attorney who has been closely following the case.

His trial is set to begin tomorrow, June 6, but there are still a lot of questions to answer. Seems like the rest officers involved in the case are just laying the whole blame on the driver, while there is still no reliable evidence about what happened to Gray in the police van and how exactly had he got his injuries. Authorities would be very happy to see a black man as the only guilty person in this case because they hate discussing race problems and police brutality.

Evidence of about 100 cases of police shootings released on Friday by Chicago officials is not so transparent when minorities involved.

Chicago officials released footages and reports of investigations into police shooting and using force. This action was provoked by the wide public discontent after police brutal shooting black teenager, Laquan McDonald.

City residents and official, who advocated for transparency, appreciated the public appearance of the materials. However, most of the released videos are blurred or show some secondary moments like passing by people, cars etc. Moreover, in several cases involving minorities, no records were given.

In contrast, incidents in which police officers acted reasonably were provided with full records and clear footage.

Dean Angelo, president of the Chicago Fraternal Order of Police, said, "To me, you would release the information to justify the results, whether its discipline or exoneration. But you complete the investigation before you put it out there."

The decision made by Chicago police department definitely is a step forward to transparently, but it is absolutely not enough. There is still no light in the most controversial cases. The Department should apply more force to restore the trust of the community which has been deeply damaged.

Kevuntez King has been selling newspapers for 5 years to earn money for studying in college.

Craigmont High School student has been selling newspapers from the age of 12 to 17 and now he has got enough money to pay for college.

King ’s story became widely known when one of his neighbors, Molly Laster, took a photo of him while he was selling newspapers in cap and gown.

Kevuntez King says, “When it came down to school, my mom didn’t have to come out of pocket to do anything or I didn’t have to take out any loans to go to school.”

He adds a few advises for his peers, “Make sure you surround yourself with people that's trying to go up in life and not trying to bring you down. Just stay positive and always believe in yourself and push for it.”

It’s not a secret for anybody that college education is not an easily affordable thing for members of black communities in U.S. This story is a nice role model for black youth who is striving to get in college. When the government doesn’t care about your future you have every opportunity to take it in your own hands.

Get The Facts Right, Muhammad Ali Didn’t Live Beyond Race

Yet, Chris Myers says “when you saw #Ali you didn't see color you didn't see religion you saw a gentle man who was a strong fighter,a Champion you could believe in”.

Who do you think Muhammad Ali was? A black man that was famous? No, he wasn't seeking fame, but to impact his generation. A boxer with many titles? He fought many battles in life and overcame them.

First and foremost is the struggle of a black American in his early ages, which he won over by refusing to succumb to the pressures of incarceration and segregation. He also changed his “slave” name to Ali, and gave a message of racial pride for African Americans and resistance to white domination.

The Greatest, as was Nicknamed, was resolute in his convictions. As a young black boy, who was athletic and a boxer, he refused to be conscripted into the U.S. military, citing his religious beliefs and opposition to American involvement in the Vietnam War.

Now, when a famous Africa-American dies, many of the white folks give credit of his success and achievements to his or her ability to “transcend” his race. But whether you like it or not, Ali was Black and was proud of being black.

“You see, when it comes to black people, transcend is used as a way to say that blackness in contrast to whiteness is limiting. Blackness is that small tributary outside the white mainstream, and to swim in that mainstream is an achievement worth noting,” Lawerence Ross stated.

His life and his victories prove that being black is not a hedge or some kind if disadvantage. We can all testify to the fact that everyone can become great, rich and famous if he or she had enough initial force. It therefore makes not sense to attribute a Black man’s successes to “transcending race”.

We salute The Greatest, Muhammad Ali. You have shown us that we can still hold on to blackness, and as beautiful as we are, become the mainstream in America. You are a true hero, and a legend to be remembered for all of time.

National Association of Education Statistics acknowledged African American women to be the most educated demographic group in the U.S. population.

“By both race and gender there is a higher percentage of black women (9.7 percent) enrolled in college than any other group including Asian women (8.7 percent), white women (7.1 percent) and white men (6.1 percent),” reported Slate magazine.

According to report, from 1999–2000 to 2009–10 percentage of women in U.S who had received associate’s degrees is about 60, for bachelor’s degrees it is about 58. The percentages of master’s and doctor’s degrees for women in the same period of time increased.

Among the U.S. black students women earned 68 percent of associate’s degrees, 66 percent of bachelor’s degrees, 71 percent of master’s degrees, and 65 percent of all doctor’s degrees.

These data show how unfairly devalued are black people in the society, especially black women. They are much more successful and intelligent than many white people think.

Max Gracia, 22, died in jail without any medical treatment after he was bit by K-9 during arrest on August 6, 2015.

Garcia’ was stopped by a Florida police as he was a suspect in a robbery case. The moment of the arrest was captured on a surveillance camera. The footage shows that he tried to escape the arrest, running away from officers, when police dog bit his leg and held it about 3 minutes. After he got managed to set himself free from the dog’s teeth, he jumped into the nearby lake.

Later Garcia was brought to jail where he felt sick and suffered from the infection symptoms. He begged officers to receive a medical treatment but was denied because they didn’t believe in his complaints.

One of the jail nurses claimed that Garcia had been “faking or exaggerating his medical condition and inability to get up.”

The young man was finally delivered to the hospital only when he wasn’t able to get up from the floor and was “groaning in a lethargic manner.” He died there the same morning.

According to the results of an autopsy Garcia had got E. coli infection caused by the dog’s bite, and he could have stayed alive if he had got the proper treatment.

“He’s screaming, he’s crying, other inmates are saying this guy needs help, and nobody stood up. Nobody did anything except ignore his cries of help,” says family lawyer.

There are numerous situations when people of color don’t receive needful treatment in detention facilities. Not speaking about violence they face from the law enforcement staff. This case and similar ones should be considered as a murder and those responsible should be punished severely.

Atlanta Bank of America ex-clerk, Christine Mcmullen Lindgren, decided to step forward on Facebook using N-word and sending black people “back to Africa”.

A White Bank of America employee was fired after posting following hateful massage on her Facebook page saying:

“I hate Facebook for this reason you f——- n—— and yes if [you] can call each other that well I can too, F—— n—— go back to Africa get over your pity party. You created this hatred and your own kind that brought your great great grandparents over here and sold them. Do something with your lives and your children’s lives I’m sure you don’t work collect welfare and teach hatred your poor children all 5 of them you can’t afford because I pay for them.”

It stays unclear what caused this demonstration of rage but the post immediately faced criticism from internet users. A lot of people demanded Mcmullen Lindgren to be fired from her position. Some of the bank clients even considered closing their accounts.

On June 2 Bank Of America posted response on Twitter claiming, “We are aware of an unacceptable post on Facebook. The comments are reprehensible. We have terminated the employment of the individual.”

Lindgren later deleted her post.

In this case we want to appreciate people who didn’t stay indifferent and demanded for justice to be restored. Hatred can only be overcome when white people understand that they are not untouchable and that they have to face punishment for every offensive word and action.
