NYPD cop who killed Deborah Danner was charged with murder.
Wednesday the grand jury rejected Sergeant Hugh Barry’s testimony after he fatally shot the mentally ill Deborah Danner last October. As a result New York Police Department Sergeant was charged with the murder.
Barry — who was suspended without pay and had testified before a grand jury last week — may face life in prison if convicted of murder, reports The New York Times.
“He had all these other options available,” the law enforcement source commented. “There were other officers there, too. Nobody else drew their guns.”
This case is surrounded with too many lies and attempts to justify the murder to let the suspect walk free. This case may also become an important precedence for solving many similar cases which for now tend to end in mistrials.
