‘Anti Racism’ Educational Program Sparks Controversy

Two Seattle teachers are planning to open an anti racism preschool this fall.

Telling young kids about the  “experiences of people of color,”  teaching them to be tolerant, speaking about social justice and intersectional theory… What can be better?

“We’re looking to create the confidence that when these kids go into predominately white schools that they can bring counter narratives to the school,” Benjamin Gore said. He and another teacher, Jason Frelot, are opening the preschool at the back of the Columbia City Church of Hope, and educate the children younger than seven on racism.

Somehow this perfectly sounding plan sparked a lot of controversy among the internet users. Some approved of it, but some opposed it calling the initiative ‘indoctrination’ and ‘brain-washing.’

It is sad that some American parents still don’t understand that racism is literally all around and they won’t be able to protect their kids (no matter Black or white) from it. Moreover, most of the existing anti racism programs for adults proved ineffective and these teachers are offering an unprecedented program. Why not give it a try?
