"When Colors Come Together... The Legacy of Harry Belafonte" album is curated by Belafonte and produced by his son, David.
In commemoration of Harry Belafonte‘s verging 90th birthday, Legacy Recordings is going to release of a 19-track single-disc anthology, “When Colors Come Together… The Legacy of Harry Belafonte.”
As a talented artist and an activist, Harry Belafonte decided to approach the highlight the urgent need for racial unity in his own original way. For example, the album will contain a remake of Belafonte’s 1957 song about racial unity, “Island In The Sun” ― performed by a multi-cultural children’s choir.
“I looked at this as an opportunity to say, here is a good chance to find one thing to do and spark some change somewhere,” David Belafonte said. “Find some way to relieve some of that pressure from that rage I think we all feel.”
At the times when Black people are lost and confused by the lies and bigotry they face, when they don’t know whom to trust the words of such icons of music and activism as Harry Belafonte shine as a ray of light in the realm of darkness. Let’s follow his advice and stand together!
