Beyonce was up for Album Of The Year for Lemonade and most fans were sure she was going to win.
When Adele won The Album of the Year nomination two-thirds of the audience felt that Beyoncé had been robbed of the honor.
The 28-year-old singer tried to release the tension using her speech to claim that the award had been given to a wrong person. “I can’t possibly accept this award, and I’m very humbled and I’m very grateful and gracious, but my artist of my life is Beyoncé and this album, to me, the ‘Lemonade’ album, was so monumental, Beyoncé,” Adele said.
Beyonce accepted the loss with incredible dignity and addressed the audience with a powerful and inspiring speech.
Despite the mutual courtesy of both singers we have once again faced the situation when the skin color played a crucial role in choosing whom to honor. We strongly appreciate Adele’s honesty and noble behaviour but… this shouldn’t have happened… ever!
