43 Years Ago A Great Artist J Dilla Was Born

J Dilla, a producer/rapper and a Detroit native, was born on this day in 1974

J Dilla is one of the most influential hip-hop artists. John Doe, MC Silk, Jay Dee, or J Dilla, no matter what the alias you call him, we all can agree to call him a legend.

The Detroit native rose to fame as the kind-of assistant producer on A Tribe Called Quest’s fifth album, The Love Movement, and went on to produce stunning music with Common, Slum Village, and Erykah Badu, among countless others. He died of lupus in 2006.
