Ohio Cop Placed On Leave after Mocking Suicide of BLM Member

The Ohio officer made insensitive comments about the passing of the 23-year-old Black Lives Matter Activist

An Ohio police officer was placed on an unpaid administrative leave this week after making insensitive comments about the death of a Black Lives Matter activist, ABC News reports.

Lee Cyr, a racist cop, commented, “Love a happy ending” on a Facebook news post about the suicide of MarShawn McCarrel. It was reported that McCarrel, an activist and a leader in the BLM movement, shot himself in front of the Ohio statehouse on Monday evening.

His suicide left behind a legacy of community work. Some activists have claimed that the death of McCarrel is a final act of protest. Molly Shack, organizer with the Ohio students association, said “the conditions for the people in his community and those that he loves weighed too much on him.”

Cyr made the comment when he was off duty and the city’s Police Chief Terry Barlow assured reporters that internal affairs investigators will look into his action to determine whether he violated the department’s social media policy.
