Racist Cashier Refused To Attend To Zendaya Coleman

“She was like, ‘You can’t afford this,’ is how she looked at me,” Black actress Zendaya Coleman recounted her experience with the racist cashier.

Racial discrimination in America against Black people seems to know no boundaries. The Black person is met with all sort of racist abuse in every area of their lives; from the community to schools, to the workplace, shopping centers, among others.

Black actress Zendaya Coleman had her share of this disgusting act when she walked into a Vons store in Los Angeles to shop. Coleman posted a series of videos on Snapchat, narrating her ordeal with a racist cashier at the store.

According to the Black young actress, she wasn’t accorded the appropriate treatment and services which ordinarily would have been given to any other customer because of her skin colour.

In her video, she said, “So we just got out of this Vons. Now I am trying to buy a lot of gift cards. … There are certain limits and some things, which is understandable.” She further added that “The lady that was helping us, I don’t think she was a huge fan of our skin tone.”

At the time of the recording, Coleman was in the company of a friend who asserted to the disgraceful encounter, she said, “Not at all! She was rude.”

The aggrieved and disappointed Black actress continued to narrate her unfortunate encounter with the racist. She said, “I recall her not trying to help us at all, saying that we couldn’t buy the gift cards and then throwing my wallet. I just can’t make this s–t up.” She also added that “This is the s–t we deal with.”

According to Coleman, the cashier instantly judged them because they were Black. She said, “She was like, ‘You can’t afford this,’ is how she looked at me.”

This is a further prove of how serious the issue of racism is in our country. The Black person is yet judged by the colour of his or her skin. This madness must stop! The harassment unleashed on Black people in America is highly condemnable and all those who get involved in such practices must face some sort of punishment. The cashier has no business keeping her job. We are fed up with such humiliations.
