Victims Of Chicago Police Shootings Are Predominantly Blacks: Report Discloses

Statistics has it that about 4 out of every 5 fatalities of police shootings in Chicago by the police are African-Americans.

According to the Chicago Tribune report on Friday, the data which was accumulated from 2010 to 2015 shows that the police in Chicago have been involved in 435 shooting incidents. And from that figure, 92 people have been killed with 170 others injured. Also, the report states that over a 5 year period, police officers in Chicago have fired not less than 2,623 bullets.

In recent years, there have been calls on authorities to instill transparency and accountability in the law enforcement following the frequent brutalities against the Blacks. Many have also called for police reform in Chicago and other parts of the country as well.

Moreover, per the Tribune analysis, there has been a decline in the police shootings during the last 6 years. The records have seen a reduction from 100 in 2011 to 44 in 2015.

This statistics further proves the heavy presence of racial profiling in the police service. They think the best way to handle a Black person is by the gun. This is the reason many Black people die at the hands of police officers. For them, the racial factor speaks louder than the law. It is about time. This nonsense must stop! Black-Americans are also entitled to human rights.
