Racist Culture to see scrutiny in University of Chicago

Members of AEPi fraternity dare to act racist to their fellow students?

Alpha Esilon Pi Fraternity of the University of Chicago have fallen under the spotlight after their internet e-mails were leaked. These e-mails contained racist and other offensive comments on Muslims, Women and Blacks.

Reading through the emails, it was noted that the fraternity used highly sensitive, offensive and racist words such as calling a group of Muslim Students Activist terrorists.

AEPi’s international spokesperson and former international president told Buzz Feed “Especially during these troubling times of increased anti-Semitism on college campuses, we are very aware of the harm that negative speech towards minority groups can do. We will investigate and, if necessary, work to educate the individual members about this issue.”

In response, Dean of students Michele Rasmussen added, “The language used in these private emails is offensive, and it is not consistent with the university’s values or our strong commitment to ensuring that people with diverse backgrounds and perspectives can thrive on our campus.”

Such behaviors shouldn’t be tolerated and encouraged under any circumstances, regardless who will be found guilty. Expulsion should be served for students found guilty of this outrageous act to deter future occurrences.
