A Black man in his mid-fifties would have been stopped 30 times in less than four years by the police.
It is just as if the Department of Justice spoke out the hearts of all Black Americans with regards to the outrageous instances of gross racism, injustice and police brutalities.
According to a new report from the US Department of Justice (DOJ), it was revealed that The Baltimore Police Department engages in a pattern and practice of racial bias. The new report further indicated that the Police Department disproportionately stopped African-American residents for minor crimes or even no crimes at all.
The Department of Justice second most of the statements raised by protesters especially the accusation that Baltimore police officers act in a biased way. This report comes months after protests and riots broke out in the city concerning the fatal injury of Freddie Gray while in police custody.
This report comes as an eye-opener for the residents and police in Baltimore on all the recent happenings ranging from police brutality to racial profiling.
But to differ from the masses, the report comes to reveal already planned measures in the police department to be applied to the Black community.
If we cast our minds back to the incident in Ferguson, nearly the same report went unnoticed by the city authorities. Michael Brown’s killer is still free.
Considering the verdict on Freddy Gray’s case, we fear that the situation in Baltimore will follow the same scenario. We need to demand reforms! Now while the report is still in the news!
