After a long hullabaloo, an agreement has finally been reached to enable Fred Barley access the $184,000 money donation which was meant to cater for his education.

Following the inspiring story of Black teen, Fred Barley which went viral on the media, benevolent Americans made donations through online fundraising company, GoFundMe.com. The total amount of money amassed was up to the tune of $184,000. However, controversy broke out concerning his story when he was denied access to the money by the online fundraising company. The company said they wanted to ascertain some facts about Barley’s story.

Nonetheless, a Facebook post by the determined Black teen revealed that a solution has been reached between both parties. He will now have an educational trust set up in his name that will take care of his education and living expenses. Bobby Whithorne, an official of GoFundMe.com disclosed, “We’re pleased everyone agreed to set up an Educational Trust for Fred, as soon as the trust is fully established, the funds will be directly transferred to the trust,” The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

There is no doubt that it is expensive to have an education in the United States. The cost is so high that successful graduates end up with high debts, which they spend a lot of years paying back. That is why for most black people who live in poverty education is nothing more than an unattainable dream.

Fred Barley, however, despite all the odds stacked against him pursued that dream bravely. The 19-year old young man rode for miles on his brother’s bicycle to register for classes at the Gordon State College. He had no place to sleep, no money to eat, he had nothing except for his passion for education.

Many had hoped the state would have offered the Georgian Black teen a scholarship which could have helped him achieve his dream but no such thing happened. The question about whether his race had denied him of any help from the government still lingers on the mind of many. Probably the government thinks that the black people don’t need no education. Despite all this, the young man doesn’t seem to be having any problems regardless. He seems to be settling fine into his new life as a college student.
