UNIVERSITY GURU, MELISSA HARRIS-PERRY DESCRIBES HER ATTACK AT IOWA CAUCUSES

… Now he is so close I can feel his breath. Before I can answer his unanswerable question of why they picked me… [He] moves closer. Is there a knife under the coat? A gun? Worse?...

Forest University professor and MSNBC presenter Melissa Harris-Perry was allegedly attacked on Monday by an unknown man in a hotel in Iowa while on the “Wake the Vote” program.

“Wake the Vote” is tour organized by the university. It is aimed at offering students the opportunity to examine issues central to the presidential election, analyze the competence of the candidates involved and possibly hone their interests to a better future and clearer ideology.

Melissa and 22 students of the university were in a hotel in Iowa where the university guru quietly waited in the lobby for her students.

In a letter, the university guru explained in details how she was attacked by a stranger in coat who fearlessly walked dangerously close to her as she wondered what he could be possibly up to. …Is there a knife under the coat? A gun? Worse? She said in the statement.

The terrifying encounter ended in the attacker running away and driving off in a car as her students joyfully came in to analyze the outcome of the Iowa Caucuses which according to her helps to sharpen their critical analyses of the process.

Although no form of injury is reported to have been inflicted by the attacker, it is not however uncommon to understand that many of these attacks emanate from racists who unfortunately abound here in America and are bent on treating black American as a slave even if he is a professor.

Regrettably, nothing is said to have been done by the security unit of the hotel. It therefore becomes increasingly necessary for people to charge the policy of racial profiling in American society.
