White House responded to online petition asking the federal government to label BLM as a “terrorist group”.
After the recent epidemic of brutal killings of Black men and police officers, the White House responded to an online petition demanding the government to label Black Lives Matter organization as a terrorist group.
The BLM is accused of being involved in fatal shootings of five Dallas police officers. Although the Dallas shooter, Micah Xavier Johnson, was acting alone without any connection to the BLM or any other movement. Some anti-Black groups created on the White House website petition July 6 concerning BLM’s growing impact on the communities. “Terrorism is defined as ‘the use of violence and intimidation in pursuit of political aims,” the petition reads.
It’s hard to imagine that such a senseless appeal could have received 100, 000 signatures and over 141,000 names. That’s how people consider fighting for justice in this country.
In response to the skyrocketing numbers of signatures and names received from the petition,”We the People” team noted that “The White House plays no role in designating domestic terror organizations,” nor does the federal government “generate a list of domestic terror organizations. Therefore, we are not able to address the formal request of your petition.”
The president, during a gathering of law enforcement officials last week, said it is important to understand that the “phrase ‘black lives matter’ simply refers to the notion that there’s a specific vulnerability for African Americans that needs to be addressed.”
Of course, White House is not that blind enough to name BLM a terrorist group. But when will they take actions to end the racial injustice? Their so-called support to Black communities still remains to be only verbal.
